Following the story of Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Studios, the movie shows the tremendous impact Muscle Shoals has had on modern music. In 2014, a documentary about Muscle Shoals music was released, produced by Stephen Badger and directed by Greg “Freddy” Camalier. Or, who knows? The musician playing at 116 Mobile might be the next big thing on the music scene – with roots right here in Muscle Shoals. There are many venues around the area that feature good live music, and you never know when someone famous is going to sit in on a session. This area is still home to some pretty well-known musicians, including John Paul White of The Civil Wars, David Hood of the Swampers, Norbert Putnam, Spooner Oldham, Gary Baker, Will McFarlane, Donna Jean Godcheax, and others. Handy, the Father of the Blues, was born in Florence, and so were the Fathers of Rock and Roll, Sam Phillips and Buddy Killen. This area came by its musical heritage honestly. That was the only reason why this ticket was purchased. Should say that Muscle Shoals Studios are closed on Mondays. The Raptor, High Rope Course and Zipline Tickets, Wheeler Lake KOA. And it didn’t stop there – today, there are recording studios all over the Muscle Shoals region, still making hits and propelling artists to fame. It is such a fun place for people who love popular music. We took about 3 hours to see it and our heads were spinning with facts and connections. You learn that Nashville is only one piece of the picture. From rock,county, gospel, big band,the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the list is endless at the Alabama Hall of Fame. The list of music artists, musicians, song writers, publishers, the whole of American music itself can be found at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame because so many musicians recorded in the Muscle Shoals area of Northern Alabama. While I knew most Southern music was connected to the 'Bible Belt' of the south, it was here that I came to understand that so many more music styles had evolved here. ![]() Nashville focuses largely on country music only the Alabama Music Hall of Fame is much broader and includes many types and styles of music. ![]() Each museum tells a different story, and these two stories are vitally connected. However, our recent visit to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame just blew me away. Fame Recording Studios - Open for tours Monday-Friday at 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM and Saturday from 10 AM - 2 PM, a tour every hour on the hour. I live in Nashville and am a huge fan of The Country Music Hall of Fame on 16th Ave. Muscle Shoals Sound Studio - 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Tuesday - Saturday with tours every hour on the half-hour 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30. If you are a music lover, no matter what type of music you like, you simply must see the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
